Big Mosey at R-Bar

posted 2011.12.18 sun 1:01p

Big Mosey played at R-Bar last week with Reserved for Rondee, Male Pattern Badness, and Distoria. Although the whole thing was hashed out last minute, we had a good old time. Such a good time in fact that I feel obliged to share these otherwise unremarkable photos from the evening…

November Newsletter: Everybody, Meet Tim

posted 2011.11.18 fri 1:52p

So what’s the big news you ask? We finally found a drummer! After a yearlong quest, the ever-punctual Tim Lykins joins us as we prepare for our Winter adventures…more music (shows below), our first t-shirts, and our first song written together. Tim comes from an eclectic background of rock (opening for Weezer and Blues Traveler) to Broadway shows, playing the kit and percussion. Nick, Matt, and Hammer feel fortunate to be able to welcome him into the band.

Also check us out online: http://facebook.com/bigmosey – having more fans helps us book better shows and get more press. So please ‘Like’ our facebook page, and share it.

Thanks for all the support!

STAMFORD: Nov 26th, Sat: Seaside Tavern
NEW YORK: Dec 1st, Thu: Arlene’s Grocery (w. Reserved for Rondee)

See you on the Outside…

September Newsletter: Big Mosey Is Back From Norway

posted 2011.09.09 fri 1:35p

Evan and Matt at Punch in Sjoa, Norway

August saw Big Mosey adventuring to Norway. What a beautiful country! We played in Oslo, the small rafting town of Sjoa, and Trondheim. Besides these excellent nights, we traveled around the country side with friends and new friends. If you are ever in the area, the folks over at the Student Society in Trondheim can celebrate an evening like you wouldn’t believe. [Click here for more photos]

Now we’re back in New York, getting ready for some local shows. The big show is Arlene’s Grocery on Thursday Sept 15th, with the whole schedule being:

Sept 10th, Sat: Branded Saloon in Brooklyn
Sept 15th, Thu: Arlene’s Grocery in Manhattan
Sept 24th, Sat: Local 269 in Manhattan

Lastly, we received a great review recently, real kind words:

“It is quite rare for me to write about an act that is unsigned. If I do, then I feel that it must be an act that I must share with you. This is Big Mosey…Get yourself signed, Big Mosey, because I want more of the same please.” -Joseph McLean, The True Joe 90 [Read the full review here: http://bit.ly/pqtI2T]

what an odd track – it’s so much fun but the lyrics are pretty dark…i mean how do they make a playful video for song about an angry kid who wants to shoot up his school? well clearly i’m into it…

Stamford Advocate Review and Show

posted 2011.02.25 fri 12:40p

Big Mosey is throwing our CD Release show at the Seaside Tavern (10p) tonight for our new EP, Homeward At Daybreak, and we just got an interview in the Stamford Advocate:

Jacob and crew meet those travails – from the pressures of day-to-day existence to the fragmented nature of modern society – head on.  Flanked by Jacob’s gravelly baritone, the group churns out gritty, feverish alt-rock stabs that summon backwoods Southern blues and dense slogging funk.
